On August 21, 2006 when PetroSun Inc., agreed to become the bowl’s sponsor, it changed the game’s full name to the PetroSun Independence Bowl. it was to have run through 2008 with an option for 2009 but the deal was discontinued prior to the 2008 game. after speaking with Richard Wright, CEO and President of AdvoCare it became evident the connection between the well known nutritional supplement company and the bowl game was very strong. the partnership of this 34-year old bowl game and the powerful nutritional supplement AdvoCare V100 is really a tandem with future.
